About Us

Making a difference one community at a time

Community Cares is exacting change in communities throughout the world by; procuring uniforms for international under-resourced schools, training students to serve as peer tutors, implementing a conversational English program in Central America, providing essential supplies to war ravaged regions and to communities affected by natural disasters.

My Story

Amidst the chaos of bombs exploding at the Boston Marathon finish line, I saw acts of heroism unfold all around me. Strangers rushed to aid the injured and while I saw the worst in humanity in two people, I saw the best in millions. Even at the tender age of six, these acts of courage made an indelible mark. From that moment on, the notion that ordinary people, even children, can change the world has been my guiding principle.  When I saw local families struggling during the first holiday season of COVID, I asked  my mayor to connect me with those in need. Together with these families we prepared meals and baked holiday cookies and from this seemingly ordinary gesture, Community Cares National, Inc., a local not-for-profit with international reach was born. As residential towers collapsed, tornadoes and hurricanes tore through neighborhoods, and war erupted across the globe, I knew that with small gestures and engagement of others, I could make a difference. As a young boy faced with trauma, I was guided through difficult times by the selfless acts of strangers. As a young man, I am driven to be that guiding force for others. Community Cares is not an extracurricular activity for me; it is a part of the fabric of my life- Merritt Lubetsky
